Nation Novel Writing Month Kickoff

See what people are saying

  • “I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. I’ve ‘won’ NanoWriMo for the past 4 years, but today was a reminder that I can do it again. I was grateful to have to opportunity to hear about novel-writing, and to see that many others are in the same situation as I am: about to undergo a huge challenge, and not alone.”

  • A very efficient demo of how I could start writing; how to develop my story; and what to focus on. I always leave these workshops feeling like I’m on Cloud Nine. I love the clarity, as well as the chance to discover the dormant writer in me.

    Let the writing begin :)”

  • “Well, November – and NaNoWriMo – is over. I’m pleased to be able to report back to you: Mission Accomplished!

Passed the 50,000 word mark on 30 November (skin-of-the-teeth stuff, what fun!). Still have several more chapters to go before completion (of the first draft!), but glad the pressure’s off a little bit now. Fortunately I still have another month of sabbatical left 🙂

Many thanks for the enthusiastic and inspirational workshops!”

  • “What did I learn about writing a novel in a month? I think the most important thing the presenter said in terms of getting 50,000 words on the page is “Don’t delete.” The class provided enough information for writers to chew on without choking. And it gave someone like me (who has heard it all) something to think about. All of that is good to hear again.”

  • It was an inspiring event, and I hope it’ll happen next year, too.”

  • “The presenter did a great job of delivering the information in a clear way, and not overwhelming us with unnecessary details. Using a published text as example was a wonderful way to demonstrate how we can improve our own writing. The presentation helped jumpstart me, since I’ve just begun my first book and I was looking for some tips and inspiration. Since the presentation, I have completed my 62-page book proposal (whew!) and I’m now on Chapter 2 of my first nonfiction book.”
