Writing for Peace (online)

Staying Creative in Difficult Times

War in the Middle East, in Ukraine, in Sudan….

Flooding, fires, and drought. Countless displaced people, immeasurable suffering. Wherever we are in the world, we’re enduring stark times. So how do we cope with witnessing these realities? How do we talk about the world of right now? And how do we speak out as writers and artists?

“Writing for Peace” addresses these questions. The workshop is for any writer, artist, and concerned citizen who wishes to attend. Over two days, we will:

  • read the work of writers who have managed to document reality;
  • write our own pieces about how we’re thinking and feeling;
  • share our writing on Day 2.

“Writing for Peace” is designed in collaboration with Amsterdam’s creative community. The experience is co-sponsored by the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts.

The workshop will be conducted in English.

Beginners and non-native speakers of English are of course welcome.
