"Writing is rewriting," the adage tells us.
But how do we rewrite? How do we decide what to leave in and what to take out? How do we determine the scope of a piece, divine its essence, know where to start and where to end? Do we edit line by line, paragraph by paragraph—or make the professional leap of re-thinking the piece first?
During these two afternoons, we'll learn how experienced writers tend to approach editing. There's no need to have written your own material in advance of this class. Instead, you'll write and edit your own work during the weekend.
At "The Art of Revision" we'll work with revision techniques that apply to both fiction and nonfiction. The core of this weekend: learning to take command of your words on the page—and finding new ways to re-imagine your writing.
All levels welcome.
