“I picked up lots of writing techniques—and confidence. I learned that the first draft of a piece doesn’t necessarily say much about its final version. I’ve always felt intimidated by the content of others, because I always believed they jotted it down in just a few minutes. But writing is a lengthy process, and I’m now happy to allow myself to take the time I need.
