“It was both a pragmatic and an inspirational workshop. I learned how to transform a first into something more coherent with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Also, I learned ways of looking at published texts and detecting some of the different techniques professional writers have used to hook readers.
What surprised me about the class: I was expecting that I’d be writing a short piece about one of my travels, but I ended up writing a break-up story with a sense of place.”
