“I learnt that there are many different techniques for—and styles of—travel writing. I also learnt that I can apply screenwriting techniques: bringing a reader into the immediate scene and ‘zooming in and out’ work well on paper, too.
How did it feel to write a piece overnight?
(Laughs). It caused duress…but I just kept moving from spot to spot until the story is complete.”
